Mudflap ComparisonsUpdated 8 months ago

First, please refer to the graphic below:

To summarize, if our Original and Low Profile mudflaps made a baby, the result would be the Premium mudflaps. Combining the best of both worlds, the Premium mudflap will survive potholes, speedbumps and the worst of weather, while protecting the fragile rockers and door panels of your Model 3 or Y.

Need more details? Here's a deep dive on each of the options:

Original

These are big, and relatively rigid. This means that once fitted, they really do look like they came with the car. As with all of our designs, they make use of the existing mounting locations, so no drilling or new holes required. The rear mudflap (shown above) is also secured to the rear bumper, adding stability.

The downside of their size is if you live in an area that gets a lot of snow, then it has a habit of collecting on the mudflaps, as they are extremely effective at preventing crud from hitting your car. If you live in an area with deep potholes, then if you are travelling at speed, there's a small chance these will hit the edge of the pothole and potentially crack. Based on fitting them to a LR Model Y, the lowest ground clearance is about 4".

Low Profile

Almost a polar opposite to the original design, these are much smaller, and the easiest to install, since they use the existing trim clips (or the supplied ones), and because they're light-weight, there's no need to secure them to the rear bumper. No drilling or new holes required. Although we've not done any official tests, their profile generally hides behind the drag of the wheel, so would have minimal impact on your car's aero efficiency. They have a lot of flexibility, so are great for any conditions, including pot-holed roads or extreme weather.  Based on fitting them to a LR Model Y, the lowest ground clearance is about 5" and will flex to 6.5".

Premium

The Premium design takes the best aspects and features of the Original and Low Profile. The mix of rigidity and flexibility really make for a very stable, yet versatile mudflap that will work in all weather conditions, and with all roads. No drilling or new holes required. Based on fitting them to a LR Model Y, the lowest ground clearance is about 5" and will flex to 6.5".
