Ultrabright Lights for New Model Y (Juniper)Updated 2 hours ago

Please refer to the video below.

Here's a step-by-step guide on how to install ultra-bright lights in a Model Y (Juniper), based on the video:

Tools Needed:

  • Spudger (provided in the kit) [00:19]

  • Pigtails (extension cables, provided in the kit) [00:41]

General Tips:

  • The kit includes six lights: four for the doors and two for the footwells. [00:06]

  • The spudger is designed to protect your car's trim. [00:19]

  • Pigtails are useful for lights with short cables. [00:48]

  • For newer Model Ys (Juniper), you don't need to worry about lowering the windows before disconnecting the door lights, as the windows are no longer earthed through the light. [07:46]

Installation Steps:

1. Passenger Footwell Light: [02:06] * The trim panel is held by magnets and locating lugs. [02:17] * Gently pull down the trim panel. You might need to encourage the back corner. [02:28] * The light is located shining through the panel, but the actual light unit is above it. [02:50] * Try to push the light out from the back. The retaining clips are on the long ends. [02:55] * Once the light is out, release the factory light by pushing in the clip. [03:19] * Connect the new light. [03:26] * Push the new light back into the opening, ensuring the cable is pulled through. [03:34] * Clip the trim panel back into place, aligning the locating lugs. [04:12]

2. Driver's Footwell Light: [04:28] * This side has pedals in the way. [04:34] * Pull down the trim panel (also held by magnets and retaining clips). [04:47] * The light is hiding up in this area. [05:04] * Feel behind the panel and push the light through. [05:04] * Release the factory light. If the cable is short, use a pigtail to extend it. [05:17] * Connect the new light. [05:44] * Feed the wire back up and clip the new light into its holder. [05:56] * Push the trim panel back into place. [06:22]

3. Door Puddle Lights (Process is the same for all four doors): [06:32] * Driver's Door Example: [06:44] * Pry out the factory light. It's often easier to start from the side with less of an angle. The trim around the light is soft, so be careful. [06:44] * Gently work the spudger around the light; they can be in very tight. [07:14] * Release the factory light. [07:31] * Connect the new light. [08:05] * Push the new light back into the opening. It might be a tight fit. Try inserting one end first. [08:10] * Rear Driver's Door: [08:47] * The process is similar. This one might come out easier. [08:53] * Check cable length; use a pigtail if needed (though in the video, it wasn't necessary for this door). [09:07] * Install the new light. [09:16] * Rear Passenger Door: [10:02] * Pry out the light. [10:02] * Check cable length. [10:18] * Install the new light, tucking the cable in. [10:35] * Front Passenger Door: [10:51] * Start prying from the shallower end. These front ones can be difficult. [11:01] * Release the clip and check cable length. [11:33] * Install the new light, going in at the end that came out easier and then pushing the other side in. [11:49]
